Dr. George Stevens has nearly twenty years of experience working in fundraising and managerial positions in the nonprofit sector, primarily in community-based organizations focused on science, technology, and education. Recently he has served as the President and CEO of a regional foundation (Coastal Community Foundation in Charleston, SC) distributing funds to over 700 small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations each year. That experience showed him that there had to be a better way than building endowments and giving away 4%.  How about reversing that equation?  He started his career as a university professor and research biologist with an interest in community ecology holding positions at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and at the University of New Mexico.  His concern for the apparent fate of our planet and the potential to organize meaningful efforts to conserve, preserve, and create a more just world brought him into the purpose-driven economy and GoodCoins.
